Why schedule a ride?
Whether you're safety conscious or love to snoop around, you want to know everything before the ride even begins. You want to know the date and time of the ride. You want to know what exact route the ride is going to take. You want to have a good, reliable measure of the people who you will ride with. By scheduling a ride on Rydezilla, you create a unique web page just for that ride, called the Ride Detail Page, which allows you to know everything, down to what bike people will use.
Communicate with riders.
Maybe you want to carpool. Maybe you want to know who is bringing what. Maybe you just like talking smack. Your Ride Detail Page has it's own message board so you can post messages which are relevant only for that ride. Plus, you can invite other people to join the ride! A button on the Ride Detail Page allows you to create a Private Message or an Email and send a Ride Invitation to the person, whether that person is registered with Rydezilla or not. If you want to communicate with the people who are going on the ride, you can do that in the Ride Detail Page.
Know thyself, and your riding partner.
Since each trail is attributed experience points, these points become part of your user profile whenever you schedule and attend a ride. What is this used for? Every time you ride with people, you will know their experience level, and they will know yours.
Add photos, video clips, blogs.
You can come back to the Ride Detail Page after your ride and add all your experiences from the ride. Took some pictures on the ride? How about video clips? Have something to say about the ride? Your friend held you back on the trail, and want to get it off your chest? Add them. Add them ALL. Only those who attended the ride can add media and blogs, no one else.
What else can I do?
Remember all those rides you've done in the past even before Rydezilla existed? You can retroactively schedule rides. In other words, you can create a ride that has already happened - create a ride in the past. Why? You can use the Ride Detail Page much like a journal or diary. Want to add a blast from the past ride using your previous pictures and/or video clips you took on that ride? Fond memories? Bad experiences? Share them. New to mountain biking? Create an open ride on a popular trail to meet new riding partners.
